Coping with Picky Eaters

by Parent Resource Info

If you have a picky eater on your hands, you’re not alone. Here are some tips to help your toddler develop healthy eating habits:

  1. Offer a variety of healthy options. Provide a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains at each meal, and let your child choose what they want to eat.
  2. Avoid power struggles. Don’t force your child to eat, as this can create a negative association with mealtime. Instead, offer the food and let your child decide whether or not to eat it.
  3. Be patient. It can take up to 15 exposures to a new food before a child is willing to try it, so be patient and continue to offer a variety of healthy options.

Remember, it’s important to model healthy eating habits yourself, as children are more likely to adopt healthy habits when they see their parents doing the same.
